Air Rifle Summer Camp is designed for new athletes and students entering grades 7–11 who have no prior experience in Olympic-style rifle shooting. This camp introduces participants to essential gun safety practices and the fundamentals of 3-Position Air Rifle shooting. The camp concludes with an optional mini-competition on Thursday, where athletes can test out their newly learned skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Camp Curriculum Director, Coach Gregg Rice, is licensed by the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF), an NRA Advanced Certified Coach, and a member of the National Coach Development Staff. He is joined by Camp Coach Daniel Shanebrook, who is also an NRA Advanced Certified Coach, ISSF Licensed Coach, and Official.
Summer Camp also serves as a tryout for athletes interested in joining the Bishop Dwenger or Carroll Rifle Teams. In addition to providing a solid foundation in the sport, it gives athletes the opportunity to explore it before committing to a full season of training and competition. The camp offers the opportunity for Boy Scouts to earn the Rifle Merit Badge.
Camp sessions will be held at The X Count, located at 5301 Merchandise Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
The $125 registration fee includes the use of all equipment, ammunition, targets, and a commemorative T-shirt.
